Graduate of Julliard School Of Music in New York City. He majored in woodwinds and composition, and has a lengthy music career as a producer, arranger, and writer.
Kenny Lehman produced albums released by Mercury, Phonogram, Casablanca, Island, Becket, Buddha, Prelude, and Columbia Records. He produced, arranged and co-wrote “Angel Man,” which rose to the top of Billboard’s National Dance Chart. He performed and arranged music for “Peace Parade,” which included the original cast of “Hair” and toured with the Original American Touring Company’s production of “Jesus Christ Superstar.”
Kenny’s orchestrations for “Superstar” were performed by the Chicago, St. Louis, and Minnesota Symphony orchestras, and he proudly performed on stage with them. It was during this time that he met and collaborated with Emmy Award-winning actor Joe Morton. Together, they co-wrote music for “Tamer Of Horses,” a play written by William Mastosimone.
Kenny co-founded and served as chairman of The American Record Producers Association, Inc. (ARPA), and has performed with such artists as Peggy Lee, Manhattan Transfer, The Isley Brothers, Nancy Wilson, and multiple Grammy award nominee Susan Tedeschi.
As Musical Director of “Got To Go Disco,” Broadway’s first Disco musical, Kenny produced and orchestrated a major portion of the score. As co-producer of “Chic,” with Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards on Atlantic Records, Kenny received a Gold Record, a Grammy nomination, and BMI Award for the hit single from that album, “Dance Dance Dance {Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah).” Kenny also produced, co-wrote and performed soundtracks for Proctor & Gamble’s shows “Catlins” and “Another World,” and produced and arranged title songs that appeared in the films “The Legend Of Billy Jean,” “Studio 54,” and “Fever Pitch.”
More recently, Kenny orchestrated strings for Celo Green, and co-produced and orchestrated for an up-and-coming Brazilian duo named “B-Grey.” Kenny is also, once again collaborating with Joe Morton on his new album and current single entitled “Wake Up America” & has co-written the theme song with Joe Morton & Julien Genuard to Joe’s new show entitled “Inside the Black Box” currently airing on “Sparkle TV”. Also recently added to his artists roster are 2 new artists/ singer songwriters Julien Genuardi & Joe Hix.
Kenny has established a reputation as an innovator and successful producer. He is widely respected for the quality of his work and his ability to bring forth the best performance from artists.
